Weight Watchers at work, in the community, and online

Are you looking for a great way to make healthier lifestyle choices? Weight Watchers® offers a supportive group environment that lets you share your story and get help with weight challenges you might be facing. By participating in one of three ways, members can learn how to make smarter food choices and build lifelong habits to support their weight management journey. And, Weight Watchers is one of the available Individual Action Plans under Healthy Incentives Program for King County employees – start by June 19 to complete by the July 31 deadline.

Weight Watchers offers convenient ways to participate in meetings: at work, in the community or online. Each week, the @work meetings are led by supportive leaders in the King County Courthouse, Chinook and King Street buildings. Additionally, King County pays for half of the membership cost for King County employees and their spouses/partners, making the program even more accessible and affordable.

The program’s goals go beyond food and weight as it aims to increase awareness, physical activity and self-care. Why? “If you treat yourself with kindness, you’re more likely to take care of your health even when you’re ill or stressed,” notes Lynn Mazer, group coordinator of the Courthouse meetings. “We have really encouraging leaders that create an open, non-judgmental environment.” Members leave each meeting with delicious recipes to try and tips to relax, recharge and get moving.

Interested in learning more? Join the upcoming Weight Watchers webinar “Wholesome Cooking with Chef Ryan” to learn simple cooking techniques for healthy, flavorful meals. [This free webinar is available to all King County employees, even if you aren’t a Weight Watchers member. A recording will be available if you are unable to join at the scheduled time. Employees should view the webinar on their own time, lunch, or during a break.]

Remember that being healthy is a journey, not a destination. What better time to start than now.
